Abstract

This research analyzed the Love Languages of Daphne Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton. Gary Chapman’s theory about love languages were applied to categorize the love languages by Daphne Bridgerton. This analysis resulted in five love languages which are the act of service, quality time, receiving gifts, words of affirmation, and physical touch. In analyzing the data, the result was to find out Daphne Bridgerton’s love languages. Besides, this analysis discovered the dominant love languages and the social background reason. Furthermore, the methodology applied is the qualitative descriptive method. The data source is from the Bridgerton series that was aired on 25th December 2020 on Netflix. Documentation and observation were applied as the instrument for conducting the research. Moreover, data collection and data analysis applied transcription and matrix techniques. The findings and discussion of this research showed every sign which indicate the love languages; words of affirmation, act of services, quality time, receiving gifts, and physical touch. From the data analysis, the researcher found the total of the love languages that there were act of services (8), words of affirmation (22), receiving gifts (7), physical touch (25), and quality time (39). Therefore, the dominant love languages is quality time. The reason of quality time is dominant because it is influenced by the social background.
