Abstract

This research aims to get the fiber of rubbered-coconut (Sebutret) which has the good characteristics and qualities. Besides, in order to get to know the effect of curling the fiber of rubbered-coconut which tightening and wrapping the fiber on the characteristics of produced ‘Sebutret’. The experimental design used in this research is the design of P in which the treatment of curling coconut fiber with 2 kinds of factors, without curling (P1) and curling (P2), while, K factor is the addition of latex. The result shows that curling the fiber of coconut has clearly effected to the moisture content, fixed pressure 50%, and voltage prassure however it did not effect on the density of ruberred- coconut fiber (Sebutret). The addition of latex clearly effected to the moisture content, the mass density, fixed pressure 50% and voltage pressure the fiber of rubbered- coconut (Sebutret). The best result has been showed by the fibre of rubbered-coconut (Sebutret) with the curling process of coconut fiber and the addition of latex 50 : 100 (gram) with average density of water is 5,42%, mass density 0,30 g/cm3 , fixed pressure 50% 13,29%, and voltage pressure 50% 73,99 N/mm2.
