ABSTRACT : The purpose of this research is to improve the ability of primary schoolfifth grade students in understanding the content of the reading text. Action researchmethods, with planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Th e subject ofresearch development is the students of grade V SD 04 Pt. South Jakarta brass rubber.Research was conducted in two cycles with the result of cycle I is 72, 7% and cycle II96.77%. It can be concluded that SAVI approach with Quantum Reading methodprovides a very significant impact, both to improve students' ability to understand the textreading, as well as streamline the learning conditions. Keyword : SAVI Approach, Reading Comprehension Ability, Action Research ABSTRAK: Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswakelas V SD dalam memahami isi teks bacaan. Metode penelitian tindakan, denganprosedur perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek pengembanganpenelitian adalah siswa kelas V SD 04 Pt. Karet kuningan Jakarta Selatan. Penelitiandilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan hasilnya siklus I ialah 72, 7 % dan siklus II 96,77%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan SAVI dengan metode Quantum Readingmemberikan dampak yang sangat baik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalammemahami teks bacaan, maupun mengefektifkan kondisi pembelajaran.
