Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a disorder of the neuromuscular junction that causes fluctuating muscle weakness. The etiology of this disease is due to the presence of antibodies that attack acetylcholine receptors on the postsynaptic membrane (autoimmune). Myasthenia gravis is a chronic disease and most MG patients fall into Generalized Myasthenia Gravis (gMG) within 2 years of onset.
