Kemampuan memahami bacaan siswa memengaruhi prestasi akademiknya. Rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami bacaan, salah satunya disebabkan penerapan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Upaya meningkatkan kemampuan siswa memahami bacaan, dengan menerapkam model problem based learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas model problem based learning bernuansa budaya lokal dalam meningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas III SD Negeri Gugus Sultan Nuku Kecamatan Sukorejo Kabupaten Kendal. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini mengambil populasi siswa SD kelas III Gugus Sultan Nuku Kecamatan Sukorejo. Sampel dipilih secara acak dengan Teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Siswa kelas III SDN Trimulyo sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas III SDN Mulyosari sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara, observasi, dan tes. Pengolahan data menggunakan SPSS versi 23. Data di analisis menggunakan uji paired sample t-test dan independent sample t-test (uji-t). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) model problem based learning bernuansa budaya lokal dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman, (2) model problem based learning bernuansa budaya lokal efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman.Students' ability to understand various texts affects their academic achievement. One of the reasons for this low ability is the application of conventional learning methods. Therefore, other efforts must be made to improve this competency, one of which is by applying a problem-based learning model. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model attached with local culture on improving the reading comprehension skills of third grade students of SD Negeri Gugus Sultan Nuku, Sukorejo Sub-district, Kendal. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The research population consisted of third grade elementary school students in the Sultan Nuku Group, Sukorejo Sub-district. Samples were taken using the Cluster Random Sampling Technique. Third grade students of SDN Trimulyo as the experimental class and third grade students of SDN Mulyosari as the control class. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and tests. Data were processed using SPSS v23 and were then analyzed utilizing paired and independent sample t-tests. The results showed that (1) The problem based learning model with local culture can improve the reading comprehension skill, (2) The problem based learning model with local culture is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension skill.
