Abstract

This research was influenced by understanding of mathematical concepts thatwere still low, students had not been accustomed to sharing their knowledge withfriends and students had not been accustomed to discussing and constructknowledge received. This research purpose was to make sure that studentsunderstanding of mathematical concepts and students comprehension ofmathematical concepts using active learning strategy type Guided Note-Taking(GNT) was better than students understanding of mathematical concepts usingconventional learning for grade VIII of SMPN 1 Pancung Soal. The Type of thisresearch was experiment research. The form of the test was an essay by thereliability test is 0.88. This research design was random to the subject. Both classwere normality distributed and homogen samples at α = 0.05 significance level.Hypothesis test results obtained P-value = 0.008 was less than α = 0.05, so it canconclude that the students understanding of mathematical concepts using activelearning strategy type Guided Note-Taking (GNT) was better than usingconventional learning for grade VIII of SMPN 1 Pancung Soal.
