This research therefore aims to determine whether studentsâ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategy types The Power Of Two is better than the studentsâ understanding of mathematical concepts with the application of learning conventional class VIII studentsâ of SMPN 2 Lubuk Sikaping school year 2013/2014. This type of research is experimental research. Population in this research is class VIII studentsâ of SMPN 2 Lubuk Sikaping consisting of six classes. The sampling technique is done randomly, which was selected as the sample classes are class VIII.5 as the experiments class and class VIII.6 as the control class. The instrument used in this final test with indicator of understanding the concept. Form of test used is a form of essay with a reliability test r11=0,901. Hypothesis testing use a t-test one direction. Based on the analysis of the data found ttable=1,678 dan tcount=1,861. Hypothesis is accepted because tcount>ttable is less than α=0,05. This concluded that the studentsâ understanding of mathematical concepts with aplikation of active learning strategies types the power of two is better that the studentsâ understanding of mathematical concepts with conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 2 Lubuk Sikaping Kabupaten Pasaman.
