Abstract

Abstract: Vocabulary is a collection of certain words that will form a language (vocabulary). Words are the smallest part of language that is free. An adequate vocabulary of Arabic can support a person in communicating and writing the language. Mastery of vocabulary is an important part of the Arabic learning process. In learning maharah qiro'ah mastery of vocabulary is one aspect that can help students read and understand an Arabic text. In this case, the writer wants to know how much vocabulary the students memorize and the students' ability to understand Arabic reading texts. Thus, this research was conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of the correlation between mastery of vocabulary and understanding of Arabic reading texts. This study uses a quantitative method of referential statistics. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of MTs At-Taufik Jombang. The results showed that the results of Sig. (2-tailed) 0.00 which means less than 0.05, then H0 is rejected and HA is accepted. Keywords: vocabulary, mastery of vocabulary, comprehension of reading text.
