PENERAPAN METODE TUTOR SEBAYA DENGAN MEDIA WHATSAPP GROUP UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PRESTASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS V PADA MATERI PECAHAN

The learning process in general is still traditional in the sense that the teacher conveys the subject matter with lectures. The attitude of students tends to be passive resulting in very low students' conceptual understanding of the material and many students view mathematics as a difficult subject. From the results of the last iteration of 24 grade V students at SDN 1 Jurug, there were 12 students who had not met the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) standards for mathematics that had been set by the school at the beginning of the school year, namely 70. Based on this background, this study aims to improve student achievement in mathematics. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 2 meetings. Improvement of learning in mathematics subjects applies the tutor method with whatsapp group media. This learning improvement aims to increase student achievement in mathematics on fractional material. The results of the quantitative research showed that students' skills in understanding fractions increased from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle, learning completeness reached 62.5% with an average student score of 68.96. In cycle II, student learning completeness reached 87.5% with an average student score of 78.75. The results of the study show that the application of the peer tutoring method to fractional material using WhatsApp group media can improve students' understanding in learning mathematics. In the future, deeper research is needed on other subjects so that this research is more consistent and convincing. ABSTRAKProses pembelajaran pada umumnya masih bersifat tradisional dalam arti guru menyampaikan materi pelajaran dengan ceramah. Sikap siswa cenderung pasif sehingga mengakibatkan pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap materi sangat rendah dan banyak siswa yang memandang matematika sebagai pelajaran yang sulit. Dari hasil ulangan terakhir dari 24 siswa kelas V SDN 1 Jurug ada 12 siswa yang belum memenuhi standar kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM) mata pelajaran matematika yang telah ditetapkan oleh sekolah diawal tahun ajaran yaitu sebesar 70. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa pada Mata Pelajaran matematika. Penelititan ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan. Perbaikan pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran matematika menerapkan metode tutor dengan media whatsapp group. Perbaikan pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa dalam pelajaran matematika pada materi pecahan. Hasil penelitian secara kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa ketrampilan siswa dalam memahami pecahan meningkat dari siklus I sampai siklus II. Pada siklus I ketuntasan belajar mencapai 62,5% dengan nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 68,96. Pada siklus II ketuntasan belajar siswa mencapai 87,5% dengan nilai rata-rata siswa 78,75. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode tutor sebaya pada materi pecahan dengan media whatsapp group dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Untuk ke depannya diperlukan penelitian yang lebih dalam pada mata pelajaran yang lain agar penelitian ini lebih konsisten dan meyakinkan.
