This is in accordance with the Javanese culture which considers land to have a very important or sacred meaning. This is in accordance with the Javanese philosophy which reads "Sadhumuk bathuk, sanyari bumi, ditohi starch". That is, one touch of the forehead, the finger of the earth, the bet is dead. Dare to touch an inch of land can bet your life.
