PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER SISWA MELALUI SEKOLAH BERWAWASAN LINGKUNGAN (STUDI DESKRIPTIF DI SMA SEMEN GRESIK)

Abstract

AbstrakPendidikan merupakan salah satu aspek penting yang memiliki peranan pokok dalam membentuk karakter generasi muda termasuk karakter peduli lingkungan. SMA Semen Gresik merupakan salah satu sekolah swasta yang berhasil membentuk karakter siswanya melalui konsep Sekolah Berwawasan Lingkungan dan meraih penghargaan Adiwiyata tingkat nasional. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui strategi dan hambatan yang dihadapi pihak sekolah dalam upaya membentuk karakter siswa beserta cara mengatasinya. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknsik analisis data melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi sekolah meliputi (1) pengintegrasian materi lingkungan ke dalam semua mata pelajaran; (2) melalui pengembangan diri meliputi kegiatan rutin seperti pengadaan piket kelas; kegiatan spontan seperti mengingatkan jadwal piket siswa; keteladanan yang dilakukan oleh tenaga pendidik; pengondisian meliputi tersedianya sarana prasana, kegiatan penyuluhan bagi guru dan siswa, pengelolaan makanan yang boleh dijual di kantin sekolah; (3) pengadaan ekstrakurikuler berkaitan dengan lingkungan yakni ekstrakurikuler Hijau dan Pecinta Alam. Hambatan yang dihadapi pihak sekolah yaitu regenerasi siswa, kurangnya dukungan dari keluarga, relativitas sikap kepedulian dari tenaga pendidik. Upaya atau cara mengatasinya adalah dengan melakukan penyuluhan pada siswa baru saat MOS, mengingatkan serta mengawasi perilaku siswa dan mengikutsertakan guru pada kegiatan workshop atau seminar bertema lingkungan.Kata Kunci: pembentukan karakter, sekolah berwawasan lingkungan.AbstractEducation is one of the important aspects that play a role in building the character of young people including concerned about the environment. SMA Semen Gresik is one of the private schools that succeeded in building the character of their students through the concept of Environmental Education and awarded Adiwiyata at national level. The purpose of this study was to determine the strategies and obstacles faced by the school in order to form the students’ character and how to overcome them. This research is a descriptive study. Data collection techniques used observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis was done through data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results show that the strategies of the school include (1) the integration of environmental materials into all subjects and incorporate environmental education as local content; (2) through self-development includes routine activities such as procurement classroom picket; spontaneous activities such as reminding others picket schedule; exemplary that conducted by educators; conditioning includes the availability of infrastructures, education activities for teachers and students, food management that may be sold in the school cafeteria; (3) extracurricular procurement related to the environment that are Green and Nature Lovers extracurricular. Barriers faced by the school regeneration of students; the lack of support from family, relativistic of caring attitude from educators. Efforts or how to cope with that problems were done by the school, which are conducting outreach to the new students at MOS, alerting and controlling the students' behavior, and engaging teachers in the environmental workshops or seminars.
