This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in the Indonesian language subject listening to fairy tales in class IV SD Negeri Suko II Sidoarjo. This research is a two-cycle action research consisting of the stages of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, field notes and tests, while the data analysis techniques were qualitative and quantitative. Qualitatively the data from observations and field notes were analyzed, while quantitatively the data were analyzed from the results of tests conducted at the end of each cycle. Data wettability test with triangulation. The results of data analysis show: 1) in the process of using audiovisual media, the competence of listening to fairy tales increases as reflected in the students' ability to recognize the contents of fairy tales such as themes, characterizations, plots, scenarios and assignments, and 2) results. This increase is reflected in the perfection in student learning, namely the average score achieved in Cycle I was only 61.75, increasing to 76.25. These results conclude that audiovisual media has a positive effect on increasing listening to stories in Class IV SD Negeri Suko II Sidoarjo.
