<![CDATA[Abstract This thesis is entitled "The Implementation of the Oversight Function of the Village Consultative Body on the Performance of the Village Head in Nanga Kalan Village, Ella Hilir District, Melawi Regency Based on Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. This study aims to determine the oversight function of the Village Consultative Body on the performance of the village head of Nanga Kalan. Law No. 6 of 2014 concerning villages is the initial step taken by the government in the framework of the reconstruction of the country's development from below, namely village government. According to the law, the village is given the authority to regulate and manage its own household according to its origin. The village law is a new hope and a challenge that must be built in the development and improvement of village governance institutions and the elements within them to achieve independence and community welfare. The village government as the implementation of government has a big responsibility in the development and welfare of the community. The Village Consultative Body (BPD) in its capacity as a village government partner has a function as a forum for accommodating and channeling community aspirations and the function of supervising the work of the Village Head as stated in article 55 of Law no. 6 of 2014 concerning villages. That is, the aim is to form the BPD as a vehicle for carrying out democratic life in the administration of village government based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Based on monitoring by researchers, it shows that the implementation of the BPD's supervisory function on the performance of the Village Head is considered to be in line with the regulations contained in article 55 of Law no. 6 of 2014. However, the BPD has not been able to improve the village head's performance in administering village administration. The BPD has also not been able to fully carry out the function of capturing people's aspirations.Keywords: implementation of functions, performance of the Village Head, Based on Law no. 6 of 2014Abstrak Skripsi ini berjudul “Pelaksanaan Fungsi Pengawasan Badan Permusyawaratan Desa Terhadap Kinerja Kepala Desa Di Desa Nanga Kalan Kecamatan Ella Hilir Kabupaten Melawi Berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 6 Tahun 2014 Tentang Desa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi pengawasan Badan Permusyawaratan Desa terhadap kinerja kepala desa nanga kalan. Undang-undang No. 6 Tahun 2014 tentang desa merupakan Langkah awal yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah dalam rangka rekontruksi pembangunan negara dari bawah yaitu pemerintahan desa. Dalam undang-undang desa diberi kewenangan untuk mengatur dan mengurus rumah tangganya sendiri dalam asal usulnya. Undang-undang desa menjadi harapan baru dan tantangan yang harus di bangun dalam pembangunan dan pembenahan Lembaga-lembaga dalam pemerintahan desa dan elemen-elemen yang ada di dalamnya untuk mencapai suatu kemandirian dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Pemerintah Desa sebagai pelaksanaan pemerintahan mempunyai tanggung jawab yang besar dalam pembangunan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Badan permusyawaratan desa (BPD) dalam kedudukannya sebagai mitra pemerintah desa mempunyai fungsi sebagai wadah untuk menampung dan menyalurkan aspirasi masyarakat dan fungsi pengawasan kerja Kepala Desa sebagai yang tercantum dalam pasal 55 UU No. 6 Tahun 2014 tentang desa. Artinya, tujuan di bentuknya BPD sebagai wahana untuk melaksanakan kehidupan demokrasi dalam penyelenggaraan pemerintahan desa berdasarkan Pancasila dan UUD 1945. Berdasarkan pemantauan peneliti menunjukan bahwa pelaksanaan fungsi pengawasan BPD terhadap kinerja Kepala Desa dinilai selaras dengan peraturan yang tercantum dalam pasal 55 UU No. 6 Tahun 2014. Namun BPD belum mampu meningkatklan kinerja kepala desa dalam penyelenggaraan pemerintahan desa.
