Citizenship is one of the most important identities for citizens because citizenship status is a membership position for a person as a citizen to live or participate actively in a country that is recognized by laws or regulations that apply in that country. The problem that will be studied in this research is about legal consequences for the citizenship status of the Indonesian diaspora who live in Japan and then marry a Japanese citizen. The research method used in this research is normative juridical research or doctrinal legal research or library research and in terms of its nature this research is exploratory research. The results of the study show that applying, granting, and managing citizenship status is not easy, it requires careful considerations taking into account the possible consequences that arise as a result of these actions.
