AbstractThis research was conducted to find out the difference in learning outcomes of VIII grade students of Kemala Bhayangkari Middle School on food additives taught by using inquiry-based modules and those taught without using inquiry-based modules and of the effect of inquiry-based modules on student learning outcomes. This research was a conducted using quasi-experimental study with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The sample in this study was class VIII A as an experimental class and class VIII C as a control class. The data collection technique used was the measurement technique. Data collection tools used were essay-shaped tests. The was Mann Whitney U-test showed that there were differences between the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students of Kemala Bhayangkari Middle School on food additives taught by inquiry-based modules and students taught without using inquiry-based modules Based on Effects Size calculation of 0.97, it was classified as the high category. Learning using inquiry-based modules has an effect of 33.40% on improving student learning outcomes.Keyword :Food additives, learning outcomes, Module based inquiry
