This research was motivated by the low learning activity of students in social studies semester 1 in class IX.3, which is around 30%. Therefore researchers are looking for a solution by using the picture and picture learning model to increase student learning activities. This research is a class action research / PTK with two cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 stages, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were in class IX.3 of SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman for the 2022/2023 academic year with a total of 26 people consisting of 12 female students and 12 male students. Data collection was carried out by means of observation during the learning process of each cycle. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis technique. Based on the results of research using the picture and picture model can increase student learning activities in the first cycle by an average of 55.7% and the second cycle by an average of 70.8%, the results show that the use of the picture and picture learning model can increase the learning activities of class students IX.3 SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya aktivitas belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS semester 1 di kelas IX.3 yaitu sekitar 30%. Oleh karena itu peneliti mencari solusi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran picture and picture tujuannya untuk meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penilitian tindakan kelas / PTK dengan dua siklus, tiap siklus terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamtan dan refleksi. Subyek penelitian di kelas IX.3 SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman tahun pelajaran 2022/2023 dengan jumlah 28 orang terdiri dari 14 siswa perepuan dam 14 siswa laki-laki. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi selama proses pembelajaran setiap siklus. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Bedasarkan dari hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan model picture and picture dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa siklus I rata-rata 55,7% dan siklus II rata-rata 70,8% hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran picture and picture dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa kelas IX.3 SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman
