<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the social structure and function of the expression of prohibition on death in Desa Situak Kenagarian Ujung Gading, Kecamatan Lembah Melintang, Kabupaten Pasaman Barat. The theory used in this research is folklore theory. This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive method that is content analysis, which describes the facts specified in the object of research. To describe the social structure and function of the prohibition on death in Desa Situak Kenagarian Ujung Gading, Kecamatan Lembah Melintang, Kabupaten Pasaman Barat., this research was conducted by analyzing it as an object of research with the following steps: (1) describing the structure of the prohibition expression, (2) describe the social function of the expression of prohibition. The structure contained in this prohibition is divided into two parts, namely the two-part structure and the three-part structure. The two-part structure is cause and effect, while the three-part structure is sign, conversion, and effect. Furthermore, the social function of the expression of prohibition, namely as strengthening beliefs, prohibiting, giving instructions, and educating. , namely informant one , obtained 10 data on the prohibition of death; informant two obtained 11 data on the expression of prohibition on death; informant three obtained 9 data on the prohibition of death; informant 4 obtained 9 data on the prohibition of death.]]>
