The idea of understanding religious texts has different patterns depending on the originator. Jurgen Habermas with his critical theory gives color to the paradigm of scientific, hermeneutic and social studies. How did Jurgen Habermas's critical thinking originate? How is the paradigm of Jurgen Habermas's critical theory in coloring scientific studies. This research uses library research method, with a qualitative approach. Jürgen Habermas's critical theory was influenced by the first generation of the Frankfurt School. Through his critical theory, Jürgen Habermas solved various problems that his predecessor had a stalemate. Jürgen Habermas is very enthusiastic about social affairs. Thus, through his critical theory Jurgen Habermas tried to solve the problems of his predecessors that were not final.
