In terms of their understanding of English lessons, students at SMP Negeri 1 Bilah Hulu have not fully reached the Minimum Graduation Criteria (KKM) standards. In everyday life, it can be seen from students' lack of motivation in learning due to inappropriate learning models. The hope is that the aim of this classroom action research is to improve and enhance students' abilities and their activeness and learning outcomes in speaking English, especially in the classroom. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Bilah Hulu. The research results obtained were: (1) In cycle 1, the students' average score was 72, while in cycle 2 it also increased, namely 79; (2) Students in cycle 1 obtained learning completeness of 69.69%, and then increased in cycle 2 to 90.90%; (3) In cycle 1, the number of students who had reached the KKM was 23 and increased in cycle 2 to 30 out of 33 students. The conclusion of this research is that the application of the Talking Stick learning model is appropriate for English language learning. The application of this learning has the potential to improve the learning outcomes of class VII 1 students at SMP Negeri 1 Bilah Hulu.
