<![CDATA[This study examines the influence of family communication on the independence of children with intellectual disabilities at the SLB C Terate Foundation. It highlights the prevalence of congenital abnormalities among newborns in Indonesia and the rising global incidence of intellectual disabilities. Utilizing the Family Communication Pattern Theory (FCPT), the research investigates how different family conversation orientations affect the development of these children. Effective communication is identified as a combination of consistent emotional support, direct guidance, an open environment, collaboration between families and educators, and the use of appropriate communication strategies. The findings offer practical recommendations for families and educational institutions aiming to enhance the autonomy of children with intellectual disabilities. This research emphasizes the crucial role of family communication in fostering the development of these children and advocates for a collaborative approach to inclusive education, contributing to a more equitable society.]]>
