Archives are human activities that are well documented and stored because they have value. For this reason, archives are a reference source in research such as historical research. Archives are significant in research, so it is necessary to an Archivist that have sound capabilities, skills, and attitudes to support archival services. The research question is, what is the role of Reference Archivist in guiding research? This research aims to provide an overview of the importance of Reference Archivist in providing services mainly related to research and also contributing to archival research, especially archival reference services. The research method used in this research is a literature review using a qualitative method approach and data analysis through reading comprehensive literature studies, then analyzing, summarizing, and recounting them in text form in an in-depth and structured manner. The results show that the role of archives as the primary source in research references makes the position of archives essential so that researchers will use archives to the maximum extent possible. Apart from that, it is essential for archival organizers, namely archival institutions, to Reference Archivist in carrying out their activities. Participate in providing convenience or accessibility of archive services.
