Abstract

Abstract Bacterial infection is a problem that is often encountered in patients treated in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Antibiotics are drugs that are often used to treat this infection. Improper use of antibiotics can lead to irrational treatment and lead to resistance. This study aims to determine the relationship between the rationality of prescribing antibiotics based on the Gysenss path and the length of stay (LOS) of adult patients in the BLUD ICU at Konawe Hospital. The study was a cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection using medical records in 2022 which met the inclusion criteria and the number of study subjects was 90 patients. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and statistical analysis Chi-square (Person Chi-Square). The results of the analysis showed that 17 patients were included in the rational prescribing category (Gyssens Category 0) and 73 patients were included in the irrational prescribing category (Gyssens Categories I-VI). The results of the Person Chi-Square test for the relationship between treatment rationality and length of stay obtained a p-value of 0,057 which means that there is no relationship between the rationality of prescribing antibiotics and length of stay in adult patients in the ICU BLUD Konawe Hospital in 2022.
