Before Eid, the people of Bendo Donoyudan Village, Kalijambe, Sragen, Central Java, do the munjung tradition. Villagers usually hold the tradition a week before the feast day, but some already start when Ramadan is past the middle of the month or start to approach the end. Children, younger people visit the homes of parents, relatives, or people who are considered elders and respected. When visiting, residents usually bring some specific gift or souvenirs, which will be reciprocated with other souvenirs by the residents they visit. The munjung tradition is a form of Javanese education from generation to generation that maintains relatives and social harmony through attitudes of respect, mutual respect, compassion, mutual help, and cooperation. The munjung tradition must be preserved as a form of local wisdom to maintain national harmonization and integration amidst society's increasingly selfish and individualistic attitude to life.
