Abstract

The incidence of preeclampsia in Indonesia in 2018 was around 3.3%. In general, preeclampsia is still a major problem increasing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality in the world. Preeclampsia is related to complications that occur in both the mother and the baby being born. Low birth weight (LBW) babies are one of the impacts of mothers with preeclampsia where the risk increases for severe preeclampsia compared to mild preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can cause not enough blood to go to the placenta so that the intake of nutrients and oxygen to the fetus is reduced and will affect the fetus's weight. The long-term impact is that the baby experiences LBW. This research was cross sectional which was conducted on 17-28 July 2023 with 52 pregnant women as respondents for the period June 2023. The data collection tool used was a checklist. There was no relationship between maternal parity (P=1.000), no relationship between maternal age (P=0.114) and there was a relationship between LBW (P=0.030) with the incidence of preeclampsia in the inpatient ward of Dr. H. Yuliddin Away Tapaktuan in 2023.Keywords: Parity, age, LBW, preeclampsia
