<![CDATA[AbstractThe purpose of this research is to describe the form of error and factors that cause the students’ erorrs on the concept of redox rections in grade X of sma negeri 5 pontianak. A descriptive method was employed in this study. As many as 30 students participated as the subjects. The tool of data collecting are essay test and interview guidelines. The result were obtained the average of errors in understanding essential concepts is 21%, whice consist of gain and loss oxygen concept, reduction and oxidation concept, reduction and oxidation based on changes of oxidation number, oxidation number of polyatomic ion, and concept of reducing agents and oxidizers. The average of erorrs in understanding the relation between concepts is 27%, which consist of electron configuration with atomic charge concept, electron configuration with ion bond, concept of index with ion bond, and oxidation number with concept of index. The erorrs in using the concept to problem solving is 3%, that was using concept of oxidation number of neutral compound to polyatomic ion. The internal factor of students’ erorrs is students were not paying attention to the teacher in learning process, students’ note were not complete, students have difficulties in understanding the material, difficulties in arranging the learning time.
