AbstractThe purpose of this research is to explain the feasibility of the instrument used tomeasure the conceptual understanding based on the SOLO taxonomy and to explain thestudents' conceptual understanding identified by the test instrument based on the SOLOtaxonomy in the matrix material. The research method useddis the research anddevelopment method (Research and Development or R&D).The type of research used isinstrument development. The instrument development procedure in this study refers to thetest development stage summarized by Tessemer known as formative evaluation. Tessemerdevelopment consists of four stages, namely preliminary, self-evaluation, prototyping stage(expert reviews, one-to-one and small group) and field test. The data collection techniquein thisstudy was a written test. Data collection toolsin this study, namely test descriptionsand cameras. The results of the data analysis of this study indicate that the test instrumentbased on the SOLO Taxonomy to measure students' conceptual understanding in the matrixmaterial is included in the feasible category and students' conceptual understanding isincluded in the low category. Keywords: Instrument Test, Solo Taxonomy, Conceptual Understanding, Matrix
