<![CDATA[Currently, the number of hypertension sufferers is always increasing every year. There are many risk factors for hypertension, one of which is smoking behavior in certain age groups. Therefore, a study is needed that aims to analyze the significance of smoking behavior as a risk factor for hypertension at the age of 30-65 years at the Bane Health Center, Pematang Siantar. This study was an analytical survey study with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was systematic random sampling, so that 83 respondents were obtained. Smoking behavior was measured by filling out a questionnaire, while the incidence of hypertension was measured with a digital tensiometer. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and continued with the Chi-square test. The results of the study showed that the p value obtained from the hypothesis test was 0.000, so it was interpreted that there was a correlation between smoking behavior and the incidence of hypertension. Furthermore, it was concluded that at the Bane Health Center, Pematang Siantar.Keywords: hypertension; smoking; age 30-65 years ABSTRAK Saat ini, angka penderita hipertensi selalu meningkat setiap tahun. Ada banyak faktor risiko hipertensi, salah satunya yaitu perilaku merokok pada berbagai kelompok umur tertentu. Oleh karena itu diperlukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis signifikansi perilaku merokok sebagai faktor risiko hipertensi pada usia 30-65 tahun di Puskesmas Bane, Pematang Siantar. Penelitian ini merupakan studi survei analitik dengan rancangan cross-sectional. Teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu systematic random sampling, sehingga didapatkan 83 responden. Perilaku merokok diukur dengan pengisian kuesioner, sedangkan kejadian hipertensi diukur dengan tensimeter digital. Analisa data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai p yang diperoleh dari uji hipotesis adalah 0,000, sehingga dtafsirkan bahwa ada korelasi antara perilaku merokok dengan kejadian hipertensi.
