This research provides a systematic overview of trends in English Language Teaching (ELT) by analyzing 358 articles published in the JEELS and SIELE journals from 2019 to 2023. The purpose of the study is to explore the patterns and themes of academic researches that have emerged in the field of teaching English as a second or foreign language, particularly focusing on the methodologies and data collection instruments utilized in these articles. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing bibliometric research methods to analyze the selected articles. Data collection involved reviewing published articles and categorizing them based on research design, sample types, data collection tools and subject of articles. The analysis revealed that the majority of the sample consisted of university students or adults, with a remarkable 99% of the research employing applied methodologies. Observation and questionnaires emerged as the most frequently used data collection instruments. These findings indicate significant trends in teaching practices and learner-related issues, underscoring the evolving landscape of ELT research over the past five years.
