<![CDATA[This study conducts a comparative analysis between the concept of Paideia education in Ancient Greek civilization and the idea of Merdeka Belajar promoted by the current Indonesian Government. Paideia, which comes from the Greek language, is a holistic education system that aims to form a complete citizen and become a good and wise human being. Meanwhile, Merdeka Belajar is an education policy that emphasizes freedom of learning, creativity, and independence of students. Through a philosophical approach, this research explores the similarities and differences between the two concepts, as well as their implications for educational practice in Indonesia. The findings show that despite differences in historical and cultural contexts, the two concepts share a common thread, namely prioritizing character building and the development of individual potential as a whole. However, Merdeka Belajar tends to focus more on aspects of freedom and creativity, while Paideia emphasizes the formation of good citizens. This research provides new insights in understanding the concept of education from a cross-cultural and historical perspective, and provides recommendations for the development of more holistic and meaningful educational practices in Indonesia.]]>
