<![CDATA[This research aims to improve the reading skills of students in class 1B of SD Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga. The subjects in this study are 22 students and the research method used is qualitative. Before carrying out the research, first make observations and the results of the observations show that students are still not fluent in reading, therefore when discussing with teachers, if students must recognize the letters block 1-2 such as the letters a, i, n, s, m, u, r, l, t, o, b. In addition, there is a need for an interesting learning model when carrying out learning, so the author applies the Picture And Picture learning model to make it easier to learn to read. The results of the study show that during learning, the author displays familiar pictures such as cows, eyes, snakes that correspond to the letters of blocks 1-2 and invites students to guess the pictures and spell them. After that, the author gave a group assignment where the group was distributed into 4 groups and they were asked to attach letter cards according to the name of the picture listed. From the results of the group's assignments, group 1 got a score of 95, group 2 got a score of 85, group 3 got a score of 97, and finally group 4 got a score of 80. It can be concluded that students have begun to be proficient in reading and recognizing letters even though not all letters have had time to be learned. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca peserta didik yang terdapat di kelas 1B SD Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 22 peserta didik dan untuk métode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Sebelum melaksanakan penelitian, terlebih dulu melakukan observasi dan hasil observasi menunjukan jika peserta didik masih kurang lancar dalam membaca, maka dari itu saat melakukan diskusi bersama guru, jika peserta didik harus dikenali huruf blok 1-2 seperti huruf-huruf. Selain itu perlunya model pembelajaran yang menarik saat melakuan pembelajaran, maka itu penulis menerapkan model pembelajaran Picture And Picture untuk mempermudah dalam pembelajaran membaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukan saat pembelajaran, penulis menampilkan sebuah gambar-gambar yang tidak asing seperti Sapi, mata, Ular yang sesuai dengan huruf blok 1-2 dan mengajak peserta didik untuk menebak gambar tersebut dan mengeja. setelah itu penulis memberikan tugas kelompok yang dimana kelompok tersebut dibagikan sebanyak 4 kelompok dan mereka diminta untuk menempelkan kartu huruf-huruf sesuai dengan nama gambar yang tertera. Dari hasil pengerjaan tugas kelompok tersebut, kelompok 1 mendapatkan nilai 95, kelompok 2 mendapatkan nilai 85, kelompok 3 mendapatkan nilai 97, dan yang terakhir kelompok 4 mendapatkan nilai 80. Dapat disimpulkan peserta didik sudah mulai mahir dalam membaca dan mengenali huruf-huruf walaupun belum semua huruf sempat dipelajari.]]>
