DEVELOPMENT OF ANDROID TEACHING MATERIALS BASED ON LOCAL WISDOM FOR INDONESIAN LANGUAGE LEARNING IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop the android teaching materials based on local wisdom for Indonesian Language Learning in Junior High School in Tangerang city and investigate its’ effectiveness for students’ learning achievement. The approach used mixed method by research and development (RD) and quantitative data analysis. The data collection techniques used by researchers are questionnaires, documentation, and achievement test. The sample in this research were teachers, 50 students of two classes (control and experiment) of the seventh-grade students of Junior High School and lecturers as experts of this research. The result indicated that learning materials can be accessed by a smartphone running the Android operating system based on local wisdom are “Boen Tek Bio Temple” for descriptive text, “Laksa” as procedural text, and “Pintu Air 10” for narrative text. In addition to students’ learning achievement, it was found that android teaching materials based on local wisdom has positive impact during teaching and learning process (p-value 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that teachers using this android product can easily access and use Indonesian language teaching materials at any time and from any location and can help them assign homework and assess student progress. Examples of texts found in teaching materials incorporate local wisdom values in line with the Indonesian language learning curriculum.
