This study aims to examine the functions and roles of the principal of Nahdlatul Ulama Tsanawiyah Madrasah in Bonang District, Demak Regency, as well as the challenges encountered in managing the institution to enhance education quality. The research was conducted at Nahdlatul Ulama Tsanawiyah Madrasah in Bonang District, Demak Regency. Data collection methods included documentation, observation, and interviews, while data analysis was performed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The research findings on the management functions of the principal at Nahdlatul Ulama Tsanawiyah Madrasah in Bonang District, Demak Regency, reveal that education quality improvement is achieved through meticulous planning, effective organization, providing guidance to teachers and educational staff, and conducting supervision. The principal has successfully carried out their roles as an educator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator in advancing education quality. However, several obstacles hinder this process, including limited integration of technology-based learning media, the need for more effective learning programs, and low student motivation in the learning process.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi dan peran kepala sekolah Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nahdlatul Ulama di Kecamatan Bonang, Kabupaten Demak, serta tantangan yang dihadapi dalam mengelola lembaga tersebut untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Penelitian dilakukan di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nahdlatul Ulama di Kecamatan Bonang, Kabupaten Demak. Metode pengumpulan data meliputi dokumentasi, observasi, dan wawancara, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian tentang fungsi-fungsi manajemen kepala sekolah di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nahdlatul Ulama di Kecamatan Bonang, Kabupaten Demak, mengungkapkan bahwa peningkatan kualitas pendidikan dicapai melalui perencanaan yang cermat, pengorganisasian yang efektif, memberikan bimbingan kepada guru dan tenaga kependidikan, dan melakukan pengawasan. Kepala sekolah telah berhasil menjalankan perannya sebagai edukator, manajer, administrator, supervisor, pemimpin, inovator, dan motivator dalam memajukan mutu pendidikan. Namun, beberapa kendala menghambat proses tersebut, antara lain terbatasnya integrasi media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi, perlunya program pembelajaran yang lebih efektif, dan rendahnya motivasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran.
