The research objective was to identify the relationship between dairy farmers' motivations and their zootechnical behavior in dairy farming. The research was conducted in Getasan Sub-district, Semarang during September - December 2009. Getasan was selected because the location has the largest dairy cattle population as well as a dairy farmer association. The number of 50 dairy farmers from 3 dffirent dairy farmer associations are selected as samples and interviewed. Primary data was taken through interview. Data consists of respondent's identity, zootechnical behavior (knowledge, attitude, and skill) and motivation. Secondary data was acquired from related institutions and the dairy farmer associations. Dala analysis was conducted by quantitative descriptive and non parametrical statistics. Research resulted: (1) farmers' knowledge of dairy farming zootechnics is in the "efficient" category, (2) dairy famers' attitude is in the "good" categoty, (3) dairy farmers' skills is in the "good" category. There is a significant relations between motivation and zootechnical behavior, with the probability value of 0.001 (P <=1) and coefficent of -0.747.
