<![CDATA[Many practitioners of Mugai Ryu martial arts in Indonesia still exhibit weaknesses in self-leadership, a key competency in personal and professional development. Emotional intelligence is identified as a crucial factor in strengthening self-leadership. Therefore, emotional intelligence training has become the focus to address this issue. This study evaluates the effectiveness of emotional intelligence training in enhancing the self-leadership of Mugai Ryu practitioners in Indonesia. An experimental one-group pretest-posttest design approach was used in this study with 20 kenshi. Participants underwent emotional intelligence training in 4 sessions focusing on aspects of perception of emotions, use of emotion to facilitate thinking, understanding of emotions, and management of emotions. Emotional intelligence and self-leadership scores were measured before and after the training using the Mayer Salovey Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) and the Revised Self-Leadership Questionnaire (RSLQ). Results showed a significant increase in self-leadership among training participants (paired t-test p < 0.01). Three aspects of emotional intelligence were significantly positively correlated with self-leadership after training, with the aspect of use of emotions showing the strongest correlation (r = 0.626, p < 0.01). The post-test emotional intelligence results had a strong significant positive correlation (r = 0.665, p < 0.01) with the post-test self-leadership. This indicates that the emotional intelligence developed during training is associated with higher levels of self-leadership at the end of the training.]]>
