This study aims to analyze the application of democratic principles in the 2024 East Lampung Regency Regional Head Election (Pilkada), where the main problem faced is how the principles of openness, transparency, justice, public participation, and political competition can be applied effectively in the Pilkada process. The study uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and direct observation of the Pilkada stages. The results of the study show that the East Lampung Regency KPU is trying to apply the principle of openness by extending the candidate registration period, and ensuring justice and equality by providing opportunities for document improvement for all candidate pairs. The principle of public participation is reflected in the increase in the number of candidates who give the public a choice, and healthy political competition is formed through the existence of two candidate pairs representing different aspirations. However, several obstacles, such as technical constraints in the Nomination Information System (SILON) and resource inequality between candidates, are still challenges in the implementation of democracy to ensure a fairer and more representative Pilkada for all candidates and the community
