Abstract

Seaweed cultivation in Balikpapan faces challenges in drying, particularly due to weather dependence and poor hygiene. This community service program aimed to improve the efficiency and quality of seaweed drying through the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and fisherfolk empowerment. A community development approach was used, involving the Nelayan Nestapa community at every stage. Results included the construction of a drying house with increased production capacity, a reduction in seaweed water content to below 25%, improved product hygiene, and increased fisherfolk confidence in managing their businesses. This program serves as an innovative model for enhancing the productivity and welfare of fisherfolk through technology and empowerment.
