<![CDATA[Hair serum has become a popular care product to maintain healthy and beautiful hair. Pure coconut oil (VCO) is known to have great potential in hair care because of its natural nutritional content. One of the main ingredients in VCO is lauric acid. The high lauric acid content in this vco has antimicrobial and antifungal properties which are effective against dandruff. Dandruff is flakes of (dead) scalp that peel off. The epithelium that makes up the scalp is a stratified squamous epithelium that continuously grows, thereby pushing the old epithelium above it to the surface where it will then die and eventually peel off (corneocytes). Where the use of VCO can prevent dandruff. However, VCO is not applied directly to the scalp, therefore a serum preparation is made first. The advantage of serum compared to other preparations is that it is highly concentrated so it is absorbed more quickly into the skin. Based on the many health problems that often occur on the scalp and hair, the aim of the research is to conduct a literature review on what ingredients are contained in VCO so that it can be made into a hair serum preparation. The method used in reviewing this article is to carry out online search process using several search engines such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and Schoolar with the keywords: Virgin Coconut Oil, Dandruff, Emulgel, Serum. The sources obtained are international and national journals. Articles were selected based on inclusion criteria, namely those published in the last 10 years with suitability for writing keywords, relevance of writing results and discussion.]]>
