The Independent Learning Program at the Merdeka Campus Bina Marine Science Village aims to bring students closer to the lives of coastal communities and increase understanding of the challenges faced in the region. This activity was carried out in Sungai Limau Hamlet, Batu Ampar District, Kubu Raya Regency, which has significant coastal potential. The main focus of the program is to support community empowerment through educational, social and environmental activities that are relevant to local needs. Activities carried out include discussions with residents, visits to posyandu, installation of educational information boards, mutual cooperation, organizing volleyball tournaments, as well as outreach at local schools (SMA, SMK and SD). Through this activity, students play an active role in introducing the importance of wise coastal resource management, improving social relations between residents, and understanding the dynamics of coastal community life. The results of this program show increased interaction between students and the community, a better understanding of the needs of coastal communities, and strengthening social relations at the local level. This program also provides practical experience for students in applying marine science in real contexts, while encouraging community involvement in supporting sustainable village development.
