HUBUNGAN ANTARA KECERDASAN EMOSI DAN TINGKAT DEPRESI DENGAN IDE BUNUH DIRI PADA PESERTA DIDIK KELAS X SMK FARMASI SURABAYA

Abstrak Remaja adalah individu pada masa transisi dari masa kanak-kanak menuju masa dewasa. Keberagaman masalah dalam kehidupan peserta didik menyebabkan ide bunuh diri. Ide bunuh diri merupakan gagasan melakukan tindakan yang menyebabkan kematian. Ide bunuh diri juga diartikan sebagai pesan meminta pertolongan. Ide bunuh diri dipengaruhi adanya kondisi depresi. Peserta didik yang tidak memiliki dukungan sosial akan merasa putus asa saat mengalami masalah yang rumit, sehingga memicu ide bunuh diri. Ide bunuh diri juga disebabkan labilitas emosi yang meningkat. Peserta didik yang tidak dapat memahami dan mengontrol emosi akan berpikir melakukan bunuh diri saat mengalami masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosi dan tingkat depresi dengan ide bunuh diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 154 peserta didik kelas X SMK Farmasi Surabaya yang dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini adalah uji korelasi product moment dan uji regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecerdasan emosi dengan ide bunuh diri memiliki arah hubungan bersifat negatif dan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan, hal ini berarti apabila semakin tinggi kecerdasan emosi peserta didik, maka semakin menurun ide bunuh diri; hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan tingkat depresi dengan ide bunuh diri memiliki arah hubungan bersifat positif dan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan, hal ini berarti apabila semakin tinggi tingkat depresi peserta didik, maka semakin tinggi pula ide bunuh diri; penelitian ini juga menunjukkan ada hubungan antara kecerdasan emosi dan tingkat depresi dengan ide bunuh diri pada peserta didik kelas X SMK Farmasi Surabaya. Terdapat banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi ide bunuh diri, oleh karena itu penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan mencari variasi lain dalam mengukur ide bunuh diri seperti: dukungan sosial, tipe kepribadian, dan psychological well-being Kata Kunci: Kecerdasan emosi, tingkat depresi, ide bunuh diri Abstract Adolescent are individuals in the transition period from childhood into adulthood. The various problem experience in studenr’s life can lead to suicide ideation. Suicide ideation is a notion about doing deadly act to her or himself that causes death. Suicide ideation also be interpreted as a cry for help. Suicide ideation affected by the condition of depression. Students who do not have social support will feel hopeless when encountering complex problem, so it appeared suicide ideation. Suicide ideation also caused increased emotional lability. Students who cannot understand and control emotions would think to commit suicide when experiencing problem. The purposes of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and depression levels with the suicide ideation in students of class X of Vocational High School of Pharmacy Surabaya This study used a quantitative correlation. This study collected 154 students from class X of Vocational High School of Pharmacy Surabaya as the sample of study that was chosen by simple random sampling technique. Data analysis technique used in this study was product moment correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study shows that emotional intelligence with suicide ideation has the negative correlation way with significant correlation, this means that if the higher the emotional intelligence of students, then progressively decreasing suicide ideation; research results also indicate the level of depression with suicide ideation has the positive correlation way with significant correlation, this means that if the higher levels of depressed participants, the higher the suicide ideation; This study also showed that the relationship between emotional intelligence and level of depression through suicidal ideation was known has a significant correlation in class X of Vocational High School of Pharmacy Surabaya. There are many factors that influence suicide ideation, therefore further research is expected to seek another variation in suicide ideation measure such as social support, personality types, and psychological well-being Keyword: emotional intelligence, depression level, suicidal idea.
