Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the drill method on the speed of Mawashi Geri. This research is experimental in nature. The population consists of participants actively involved in the Karate student activity unit at the Physical Education study program, with a sample of 15 students (12 males and 3 females). Sampling was done using saturated sampling. The method used is a one-group pretest-posttest design, where the group undergoes both an initial and final speed test of Mawashi Geri and receives the drill method intervention. The drill-based training aims to improve the speed of Mawashi Geri among participants in the Karate student activity unit, conducted over approximately 4 weeks with a total of 12 meetings. Data analysis was performed using normality and t-tests. The average pre-test result was 2.5327 seconds, and the post-test average was 1.3687 seconds, with the highest pre-test score at 3.00 seconds and the lowest at 2.25 seconds, with a standard deviation of 0.25449. The percentage increase in Mawashi Geri speed was calculated at 85.04%, indicating a significant effect of the drill method on improving Mawashi Geri speed in Karate students of the Physical Education program.
