<![CDATA[ABSTRACTàNorth Sumatera is rich with local cultures, one of them is Malayââ¬â¢s ornament with its various moàtives. Unfortunately, it has not directly touched the human daily needs. The ornament which conàtains patterns and motives needs a real effort to be formed into work of art that touches menââ¬â¢s need. The shape and form are implemented into batik work. The process of batik creation needs several steps in series. Making the design, applying the wax, coloring the motives, and vanishing the wax are the steps that must be taken in the process of batik creation. The products of batik creation among others are batik shirt, batik pillowcase, etc. The coloring process uses napthol with green and yellow as the specific colors of Malay ethnic. Ornamen yang di dalamnya mengandung pola dan motif memerlukan usaha nyata untuk dapat diwujudkan sebagai karya seni yang ber- hubungan langsung dengan kebutuhan manusia. Bentuk dan wujud diimplementasikan ke dalam karya batik. Proses penciptaan batik memerlukan beberapa tahapan yang saling berurutan. Pembuatan desain, pencantingan, pewarnaan hingga proses menghilangkan li- lin merupakan tahapan yang harus dijalani sebagai langkah di àdalam proses penciptaan batik. Hasil proses penciptaan batik berupa baju batik lengan pendek, sarung bantal kursi, dan lain-lain. Semua produk batik tersebut menggunakan motif Melayu Sumatera Utara. Proses pewarnaan menggunakan napthol dengan warna hijau dan kuning sebagai warna khas etnis Melayu.
