Complying with the Marriage Law (UUP) is an obligation for an Indonesian citizen. This compliance is obedience to the state/government. Because the Marriage Law (UUP) is a government legal product. This article aims to find out and provide understanding to the public on the basis of mandatory compliance with the Marriage Law (UUP). This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of literature study (library research). The results of this research found that as Indonesian citizens we are obliged to comply with the laws in force in Indonesia based on Article 27 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution which reads "all citizens have the same position under the law and government and are obliged to uphold the law and government without there are exceptions." In Islamic law, the obligation to obey the law is a form of obedience to the government (ulil amri) as well as the obligation to obey Allah and his messenger. This is mentioned in the QS.
