Arts and culture education has a significant role in forming positive character in students, especially in the context of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools. This article explores the challenges and opportunities associated with the integration of arts and culture education in the Independent Curriculum. Key challenges include comprehensive integration into the curriculum and maintaining the importance of the arts amidst pressure to improve academic achievement. However, there is a great opportunity to utilize various forms of art as a means to teach character values, strengthen cultural identity, and utilize technology and collaboration with local arts communities. By utilizing challenges as opportunities, arts and culture education can play an important role in shaping positive character in future generations.
