The aim of this research is to describe the role of the teacher, and describe supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as describe solutions to overcome obstacles in preserving local cultural values in social studies learning for grade 5 students at Giwangan State Elementary School. The method used is qualitative description. This research was conducted at Giwangan State Elementary School. the principal, class V teacher, and class V students as participants. Testing the validity of the data uses techniques to increase persistence and triangulation. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research are that the role of teachers in preserving local cultural values can be seen from the habit of participating in school cultural activities, participating in cultural events in the environment, and applying cultural values in learning. And the supporting factors are the active role of families, especially parents, student awareness, the active role of class teachers and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are family factors, environmental factors and students. The solution to overcome this is by providing guidance, teachers advising students about the importance of preserving local culture, participating in every cultural event at school. integrating cultural values into learning, and collaborating between schools and parents in overcoming these problems.
