Abstract

This study aims to describe the educational values characters contained in the fourth-grade student's theme book 1 “The Beautiful of Togetherness” curriculum 2013, especially social studies subjects. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study are statements that contain and show the value of character education. Data was collected using reading, noted, and document analysis. Data validity used triangulation of source and triangulation of methods. Of the 18 values of the characters education launched by the Ministry of National Education, found 7 values of character education are available in the This study aim was to describe the educational values characters contained in the fourth-grade student's theme book 1 “The Beautiful of Togetherness” curriculum 2013, especially social studies subjects namely (1) religious, (2) tolerance, (3) democratic, (4) patriotism, (5) curiosity, (6) love peace, (7) like reading. These educational values characters are conveyed through story text, quotes, and assignments.

Abstract

The role and function of teachers is very important in teaching and educating students, as well as in advancing education. The quality of student education and depend on and teacher’s quality. Teacher is a profession who prepare human resources to meet nation building in the independence. Teacher as one component of course inseparable from the education system. The paradigm of the national education system should include a variety of factors, including input, process, and output of education. In practice, more emphasis on education efforts to raise learners do something beneficial to the interests of society and the nation. So the teacher's role in creating an exciting and fun learning, teachers demanding more creative and professional. This is important, because in every lesson, has a very central role, well as planners, implementers, and evaluators in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education through school culture in SD N Kotagede 3, Umbulharjo Yogyakarta. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Subjects of this study consisted of one principal, six teachers, two teachers extracurricular, three students of class IV, V and VI, and the school committee. Selection of research subjects have been with a certain consideration. The experiment was conducted in SD N Kotagede 3, Umbulharjo Yogyakarta. The technique of collecting data using interviews, documentation and observation  moderate  because  the  researchers  only  do  some  of  the  activities  undertaken  by  the speaker.  Data  analysis  techniques  used  during  this  study  using  an  interactive  model  Miles  and Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed  that  the  implementation  of  character  education  through  a  school  culture  that  is  carried out in SD N Kotagede 3 includes intrakurikuler including 5S, MCC, breakfast, tadarus classical, gymnastics mass, flag ceremony, Thursday pahingan, warning big day, smutlis, waste sorting and go library. In addition intrakurikuler activities, the implementation of character education through school culture in SD N Kotagede 3, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta is also manifested in extracurricular activities, namely the scouts, TPA, ICT, dance, batik, marching band, gamelan, music, alteltik, karate and qiroah. Character values  that are formed in the implementation of character education through school  culture  held  in  SD  N  Kotagede  3  covers  religious,  disciplined,  responsible,  independent, creative, environmental care, social care, honest, hard work, patriotism, and love to read. Inhibiting factors and support in implementing character education through school culture in SD N Kotagede 3, namely, teachers, students, parents and facilities can be a contributing factor as well as inhibiting the culture of the school, depending on how the responses and action given every component on any activities carried out.

Abstract

This is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to find out the implementation of assessment in social science-thematic earning in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Sekarsuli Bantul. The results of data collected show that: (1) The form of assessment used are cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. (2) The implementation of assessment on thematic learning with social studies is carried out when learning takes place and outside of learning, (a) The cognitive domain, including written tests including daily tests, PTS and PAS. (b) The affective domain includes observation, self-aseessment and peer-to-peer assessment. (c) The psychomotor domain includes the performance assessment in groups. (3) Supporting factors and obstacles to the implementation of the assessment include, supporting factor include the existence of education and training, training and workshops related to assessment, the existence of assessment tools and instruments that facilitate teachers, and the existence of school facilitates to support assessment. While the inhibiting factors in the complexity of the assessment system. This result in the teacher experiencing difficulties in developing assessment, the state of students who did not support the assessment process, the implementation of social studies content assessment took a long time.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the implementation of independent and creative character planting through thematic learning of IPS-charged in grade V students of SD N 1 Sekarsuli Bantul. This research is qualitatively descriptive. The results showed that: (1) The implementation of self-character planting includes getting used to students tidying up classes, guiding students to always complete their own tasks, and guiding students to be confident. The cultivation of creative characters includes teachers being democratic and open, and freeing students to express opinions and ask questions. (2) Supporting factors include caring parents, encouragement from friends, teachers, and schools, active students. While the inhibition factors include the character of students who are hard to care about, the attitude of teachers who are not right, and the lack of support from parents. (3) The solution in overcoming the obstacles of character planting is that the principal holds regular meetings for all teachers, teachers cooperate with the parents of students, teachers approach their students, teachers give punishment in the form of additional tasks.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to determine the increase in activity and resultsactivity with cooperative learning model snowball throwing on learning social studiesclass IV students second semester Elementary School District 1 Rejowinangun schoolYogyakarta year 2013/2014. This study was conducted in two cycles, the subjects inthis study were as many as 28 people and the object of research is the result of learningactivity social studies. Student activity data were collected using the method of observation,while the results of the data gathered through the sosial studies test methodwhich tests learning outcomes. The results show the application of Cooperative LearningModel Type Snowball Throwing in learning social studies can increase activity andlearning Outcomes. Increased activity of students in the first cycle 63.40 % and 81.91% in the second cycle or in other words an increase of 18.51 % active students areincluded in the active category. Student learning outcomes in the first cycle 72.84% and83.26% in the second cycle. There has been an increase in science learning outcomes of18.00 % included in the high category. Based on these data the application of cooperativelearning model Snowball Throwing concluded that learning can enhance the activitysocial studies student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The 21st century is the era of industrial revolution 4.0 where technology integration is very necessary in learning. One technology that can be applied in learning is Augmented Reality (AR). This research is development research (Research and Development) with the aim of producing a product in the form of an Augmented Reality Based Snakes and Ladders Board Game with a Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Critical Thinking Skills on Cultural Diversity Material. The development procedure uses the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. Data collection techniques in the preliminary study were in the form of interviews and documentation, while in implementation it was in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. The instruments in this research are interview instruments for needs analysis, media expert and material expert validation sheets, student and teacher interview instruments, and test questions. The test results show a Sig value. (2-tailed) or Two-Sided < 0.01 with a standard deviation of 4,582. This value shows that the significance level is less than 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the results obtained before and after using the augmented reality-based snakes and ladders board game media. Based on this, it can be concluded that the use of the Augmented Reality-based snakes and ladders board game media is effective in increasing the achievement of learning objectives regarding cultural diversity material.

Abstract

Learning innovation is something that is important and must be owned by teachers. The teacher's willingness to try, discover, explore and search for various learning approaches, methods and strategies is one of the supports for the emergence of various new innovations. Social studies as a subject at elementary school level is essentially a complete integration of social science disciplines and other relevant scientific disciplines to realize educational goals at school level. From the results of teacher observations, several problems were found in social studies learning, including: (1) in the teaching process teachers only use lecture and question and answer methods so that students tend to get bored because they find learning less interesting; (2) the learning that takes place is always teacher-centered so that student involvement is less active; (3) students' understanding and memory are still minimal. To overcome problems in learning in class VI, learning is implemented at SD Negeri Temon using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method regarding Economic Activities in ASEAN Countries. The choice of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in the learning process is adjusted to the basic competencies in social studies learning. The teacher gives a number of trigger problems, then students continuously develop their knowledge in groups and individually.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on social studies learning outcomes for Class V Elementary School in Gugus Sumberarum, Kapanewon Moyudan, Sleman Regency. This research is pre-experimental research, with a quasi experimental research design. The population in this study consisted of VA and VB classes with 52 students. Sampling used the Simple Random Sampling technique to select the VA class with 20 students as the experimental class and the VB class with 20 students as the control class. The test instrument used is a learning outcomes test. Data is described and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the research show that the value of learning outcomes before implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tri Nga teachings obtained an average value of 67.6. After implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tri Nga teachings, the average score rose to 85.35. The results of the significance test obtained a Sig value. (2-tailed), namely 0.00 < 0.05, it can be said that there is a significant difference between the control class and the experimental class, so it can be said that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on these results, it can be said that there is a positive influence of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Tri Nga teachings on social studies learning outcomes in class V elementary school in Gugus Sumberarum

Abstract

SEJARI PADLET (Semangat Belajar IPS dengan Padlet) which is carried out on grade 6 students at Karangasem State Elementary School aims to increase students' enthusiasm or interest in learning. Padlet application as a container for sharing learning materials from teachers. Students independently explore the features of the Padlet application which has been filled in with learning material by the teacher. Students do not need to download the application but simply open the link. The Padlet application can be opened at any time so students can study the material again in sequence. Best practice has been implemented by applying the learning by doing method in several stages. The first stage is the preparation stage, the second stage is training, the third stage is the implementation of the learning process. The results of questionnaire analysis and observations during social studies learning before and after using the Padlet application increased by 42.8% to 86.8% from 44% before learning using the Padlet application. Previously, only around 4 students out of 9 students showed interest in taking part in social studies lessons. After using the Padlet application, around 8 out of 9 students have shown interest in taking part in social studies learning. The average student learning outcomes also increased by 13.75 to 90 from the previous 76.25. All student learning outcomes are above or equal to the KKM, meaning students understand the lesson material more easily. From these data it can be concluded that the Padlet application is able to increase students' enthusiasm and interest in learning social studies.
