Abstract

In the 21st century learning era, teachers no longer only act as informationconveyors, but also as facilitators who encourage and facilitate students to thinkcritically, creatively, communicate and collaborate. Key characteristics of 21stcentury teachers include adaptive ability to technology, effective communicationskills, and a deep understanding of competency-based learning principles. Thisstudy aims to identify the characteristics and role of teachers as facilitators insupporting learning that is relevant to the needs of the times. This research methoduses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques throughliterature studies. The results show that 21st century teachers must have digitalliteracy competencies, the ability to build an inclusive learning environment, andgood interpersonal communication skills. In addition, teachers must be able toencourage students to learn independently and adapt to various learning styles. Theteacher's role as a facilitator includes helping students access learning resources,providing personalized guidance, and motivating them to develop 21st century skillssuch as critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Keywords: 21st century teacher; facilitator; active learning; digital literacy; 21stcentury skills Dalam era pembelajaran abad ke-21, guru tidak lagi hanya berperan sebagaipenyampai informasi, tetapi juga sebagai fasilitator yang mendorong danmemfasilitasi siswa untuk berpikir kritis, kreatif, komunikasi dan kolaboratif.Karakteristik utama guru abad ke-21 mencakup kemampuan adaptif terhadapteknologi, keterampilan komunikasi yang efektif, serta pemahaman mendalamterhadap prinsip pembelajaran berbasis kompetensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengidentifikasi karakteristik dan peran guru sebagai fasilitator dalam mendukungpembelajaran yang relevan dengan kebutuhan zaman. Metode penelitian inimenggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan datamelalui studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru abad ke-21 harusmemiliki kompetensi literasi digital, kemampuan membangun lingkungan belajaryang inklusif, serta keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal yang baik. Selain itu, guru harus mampu mendorong siswa untuk belajar mandiri dan beradaptasi denganberbagai gaya belajar. Peran guru sebagai fasilitator mencakup membantu siswamengakses sumber belajar, memberikan bimbingan personal, dan memotivasimereka untuk mengembangkan keterampilan abad ke-21 seperti berpikir kritis,kolaborasi, dan kreativitas.
