The relocation of the Indonesian Capital City to Ibukota Nusantara (IKN) requires the development of adequate infrastructure and public services, including sustainable food security. This condition provides a strategic opportunity for areas around the IKN to strengthen their role in meeting food needs. The Kutai Kartanegara Coastal Area is one of the IKN maintenance areas with sufficient potential in the fisheries sector, with shrimp as one of the leading commodities. However, further studies are needed to see the potential and threats of utilizing the Kutai Kartanegara coastal area to support IKN food security in East Kalimantan. The approach used in this study is qualitative. Data was collected using secondary data related to location potential, policies, accessibility, infrastructure, human resources, economy, environment, and risk. In addition, spatial analysis was also carried out using GIS tools. The study results show that the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Coastal Area has excellent potential as a supporter of IKN food needs, supported by the availability of land, resources, and strategic geographical location. However, strengthening infrastructure, licensing, and human resource capacity are still the main challenges that must be overcome. Through proper collaboration, this area can be developed as a sustainable fisheries cultivation cluster in line with the determination of the Muara Jawa Planning Area (WP) within the framework of IKN development.
