Abstract

the purpose of this research was to improve student’s activity and mathematics achievement through Guided Discovery Learning approach  in class X E  Tanjungsari SMA Negeri 1 Gunung Kidul. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this research were students of class X E SMA Negeri1 Gunung Kidul Tanjungsari  total 28 students. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, tests and documentation. The results showed that activity and mathematics achievement has increased. The average percentage from activity  questionnaire at pre cycle was 62,5 %, in the first cycle it improved  67.6% and 76.08% in the second cycle. The average values at the beginning test was 74.46  with the percentage of minimum criteria 71.43 %. In the first cycle the average result improved to 74.46  with the percentage of minimum criteria 71.43 % and improve 79.11 in the second cycle with the percentage of minimum criteria 71.43%. Based on the results of research, math teachers can implement guided discovery learning.
