Abstract

Abstrak. Persemaian Eukaliptus di rumah tanaman tropis basah menghadapi tantangan suhu yang tinggi, yang dapat mencapai 37C, jauh di atas rentang suhu ideal (25-31C). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pendinginan evaporatif dalam mengontrol suhu rumah tanaman. Simulasi dilakukan menggunakan perangkat lunak Ansys Discovery pada model rumah tanaman berukuran 8 m x 4 m x 4 m dengan ventilasi di dinding dan atap. Kecepatan aliran udara yang disimulasikan bervariasi antara 0,9 m/s hingga 5 m/s. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tanpa pendinginan evaporatif, suhu rumah tanaman cenderung serupa dengan suhu lingkungan, yang tidak mendukung pertumbuhan optimal Eukaliptus. Dengan pendinginan evaporatif, suhu di dalam rumah tanaman dapat diturunkan hingga 26-28C, terutama pada kecepatan aliran udara 3 m/s atau lebih. Sistem pendinginan evaporatif terbukti efektif dalam menyeragamkan suhu, menjadikannya solusi yang direkomendasikan untuk mendukung keberhasilan persemaian Eukaliptus di kawasan tropis basah.Simulation of Temperature Distribution by Evaporative Cooling in a Wet Tropical Greenhouse for Eucalyptus NurseryAbstract.Eucalyptus nurseries in wet tropical greenhouses face the challenge of high temperatures, which can reach 37C, well above the ideal temperature range (25-31C). This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of evaporative cooling in controlling greenhouse temperature. Simulations were conducted using Ansys Discovery software on an 8 m x 4 m x 4 m greenhouse model with vents in the walls and roof. The simulated airflow velocity varied from 0.9 m/s to 5 m/s. Results show that without evaporative cooling, the greenhouse temperature tends to be similar to the ambient temperature, which does not favour optimal growth of Eucalyptus. With evaporative cooling, the temperature inside the greenhouse can be reduced to 26-28C, especially at airflow velocities of 3 m/s or more. Evaporative cooling systems are proven to be effective in uniforming temperatures, making them a recommended solution to support the success of Eucalyptus nurseries in wet tropical regions.
