Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik karbon aktif tempurung kelapa sawit teraktivasi H3PO4 10%, mengetahui kapasitas adsorpsi dan efisiensi adsorpsi sistem kontinyu pada adsorpsi zat warna Remazol Brilliant Blue-5R (RBV5R). Penelitian ini meliputi preparasi tempurung kelapa sawit, karbonisasi, aktivasi karbon, uji karakteristik, dan adsorpsi zat warna RBV5R secara sistem kontinyu. Karakteristik karbon aktif diperoleh kadar air sebesar 7,58%, kadar abu 7,86% dan kadar zat terbang 94,12%. Kadar air dan kadar abu yang dihasilkan telah memenuhi SNI 06-3730-1995 sedangkan kadar zat terbang belum memenuhi SNI 06-3730-1995. Adsorpsi zat warna RBV5R secara sistem kontinyu memiliki waktu kontak optimum 80 menit dengan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 2,0460 mg/g dan efisiensi adsorpsi sebesar 27,2797%.This study aims to determine the characteristics of activated palm oil carbon activated with H3PO4 10%, determine the adsorption capacity and adsorption efficiency of the continuous system on the adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue-5R (RBV5R) dye. This research includes preparation palm kernel shell, carbonization, carbon activation, characteristic test, and adsorption of RBV5R dye in a continuous system. The characteristics of activated carbon obtained moisture content of 7.58%, ash content of 7.86% and fly substance content of 94.12%. The moisture content and ash content produced have met SNI 06-3730-1995 while the fly content has not met SNI 06-3730-1995. Adsorption of RBV5R dye in a continuous system has an optimum contact time of 80 minutes with an adsorption capacity of 2.0460 mg/g and an adsorption efficiency of 27.2797%.
